On Buying Your First Microphone For A Home Studio

If you're just building your first recording studio, the possible array of brands and types of microphones can be overwhelming. There are a couple of things to consider when choosing. Basically there are two types - dynamic and condenser. One of the big mistakes that one makes is in thinking that the condenser microphones are better than the dynamic ones or that condenser mics can be used only for vocals and dynamics for instruments. Anybody who dispenses such advice can't know what they're saying; you should stop right there and get away until they learn a few things.
Let's take a look at vocal mics for a minute People are going to tell you that you need a condenser for doing vocals. Think again! Here's a sampling of the many successful artists that think otherwise: Red Hot Chili Peppers, U2, Bonnie Raitt, Metallica, Incubus, Bjork to name just a few. Obviously they can use whichever they would like to, but they've chosen a dynamic mic for their vocals.
In terms of caliber and character there are some awesome dynamic mics and some awful dynamic ones. In the same way there are superb condenser mics and terrible ones. It's so important to evaluate each mic on its own terms.
So far as recommendations on a dynamic microphone, there's one that distinguishes itself from all others. That's the Shure SM57. In the testimonials of countless artists, it's one of the finest pieces of gear ever designed. If you've ever listened to a known artist's record there's a good chance that you've heard an SM57 on the recordings. You could almost put money on it. It's one of the most celebrated microphones and can be used for snare drums, electric guitars, violins, percussion and much more, but it's also widely used on vocals. (I've sometimes said that I'd like to make an entire record using only this mic and it wouldn't suffer enough for the average listener to know). New they're extremely inexpensive. If you're still recording in twenty years, chances are you'll still be reaching for this mic.
If you're moving toward getting a condenser mic, one of the main reasons for doing so is that they pick up more of the nuances on the low end and a bit more detail on the highs. That being said, there are still great sounding condensers and horrible sounding ones.
If you are interested in a condenser, I would advise you to buy one that will do a reasonably good job rather than the 1st inexpensive one that you see on sale. The majority of these cheap microphones are that they sound terrible; reason being that they more often than not have a course and brittle sound. It might sound good at first as people are drawn to brighter sonorities, but If you're recording several tracks and you try to compress them, that harshness will come full forward and punch you in a bad way. A build up of tracks recorded with one of the better condenser mics are actually going to sound smooth and very pleasing to the ear.
Here's one more I would recommend. A usable and affordable condenser mic is the MXL-V67. With a good mic preamp, this mic will outshine many condensers that are far more expensive.
So, if you don't have much to spend, these 2 microphones are good investments for a first time buyer however, the most important thing is to do more research; ask experienced engineers and find out what they can teach you.

Mel Bay - The Most Incredible Jazz Music Guitar Player Ever!

Jazz guitar player Mel Bay was born on February 25, 1913 in the small Ozark Mountain town of Bunker, Missouri. He bought a Sears guitar at the age of 13 and several weeks later played his first "gig." He recalled playing right up until his fingers were raw! Mel took up the tenor banjo shortly thereafter and continued to master both instruments. Throughout his teen years Mel played with a wild assortment of bands and characters in rural Missouri. Perhaps no "gig" was as unusual as the job he landed with, in Mel's own words, "a snake oil salesman." This flamboyant peddler would pull his ostentatious Pierce Arrow automobile, complete with steer horns installed on the grill, into the center of a small, rural town. Mel would sit on the car and play up a storm on the tenor banjo. Soon after a crowd gathered, the peddler took over and started extolling the miracles of his "wonder elixer."
In 1933 Mel Bay moved to St. Louis and commenced his professional career. He performed with a lot of local and traveling bands. Additionally, he landed staff guitar employment on various radio stations. Mel fronted his own trio (piano, bass, guitar) and played steadily for 25 years! He was equally adept on most fretted instruments and played mandolin, uke, Hawaiian guitar, tenor and plectrum banjo professionally.
Whilst Mel was actively pursuing his playing career, he continued to tutor as many as 100 students a week. He decided to commence composing instructional books of jazz guitar tabs and jazz guitar tablatures owing to the problem encountered by guitarists at performing great sounding chord forms in rhythm sections and due to the mediocore note reading ability prevalent amongst guitar performers.
Soon after World War 2 Mel was asked to publish instructional tutorials on guitar for soldiers wanting to learn music under the GI Bill. In 1947 Mel formed his own publishing company and authored his landmark initial book titled "The Orchestral Chord System For Guitar". This book is still in print and continues to be one of the best rhythm guitar chord books available! His "Modern Guitar Method" was authored soon thereafter. For many years Mel traveled from town to town talking to guitar teachers and players and showing them his publications. At one time Mel claims to have known virtually just about every guitar teacher in America on a first name basis! The guitar and Mel Bay's publications caught on in a big way in the 1950's. Things have continued to grow ever since.
Mel also used to retail D'Angelico jazz archtop guitars. At any given time he would have 5 or 6 "lying around the house." Mel played professionally on his D'Angelico New Yorker Model but his favorite guitar was the original Mel Bay Model constructed as a present for him by John D'Angelico. This well-known guitar had all of the main features of the New Yorker but was a "cutaway" model and had a somewhat thinner neck. This same instrument has been pictured on the Mel Bay "Modern Guitar Method" for decades.
Someone once calculated that sales of guitar publications written by Mel Bay have exceeded 25 million copies. When asked, Mel usually explained that he quit counting long ago. Sales of his "Modern Guitar Method" have alone passed the 7 million mark! It is safe to say that Mel Bay is one of the pivotal figures in the world of guitar music and instructional materials in this or any other century!

How to Play the Violin for Beginners - Bowing and Fingering Techniques

Once you have learned the basics of how to play the violin for beginners, which is about the positioning of you and the violin, it is time to start learning actually how to play it. You need to learn both bowing and fingering positions when it comes to the violin.
There are two different ways to get notes out of the violin and you will need to learn both to correctly learn how to play the violin for beginners. The first is playing by plucking the strings, which is known as pizzicato and will be written like this on your sheet of music. When it comes to plucking the strings, you should be careful not to do it with your fingernails and always use the pads of your fingers - usually your index and middle fingers.
Now it comes to learning to play with the bow. You will need to tighten the bow hair before you start but you should always ensure that you do not tighten it too much - too much tension leads to scratchy sounds. It will take some time to get a proper note when you first use the bow so be prepared to practice.
When you hold the bow, most of the pressure should be on your index finger, which sits on the top of the bow. You thumb and other fingers are used to stabilize it. Even your little finger will be needed to stabilize the bottom of the bow. You should place your thumb in the corner of the bow and keep your fingers light while using it.
When you start using the bow, you want to concentrate on the sound that you are getting out. The tone should be clear and this will take a lot of long movements to get the positioning of the bow right. You will need a little bit of pressure on the strings but try not to use too much - you will need to be the judge so that you get the sound that you have wanted.
Your left hand is in charge of determining the notes that you will be playing. This is one of the hardest parts of playing the violin because it can take time to learn exactly where you should be placing your fingers. Each finger width will determine the notes and you need to remember that there are sharps and flats (the black notes on the piano) that you will need to think about too.
You will need to apply some pressure to the strings so that you definitely get the right note and you should use the pad of your fingertips again. Curve your hand to make it easier to only catch the strings that you want, rather than the other strings around it.
These are just the basics on how to play the violin for beginners - the more that you play, the more you will need to learn. These are the hardest things that you will learn so you will need to ensure that these are perfect before moving onto something else.

Electronic Keyboards - Electronica Revival Give New Impetus to The Market

As electronic music continues to surge in popularity with a revival of the sounds of the eighties and nineties from a plethora of new bands and production teams, the music industry is responding by launching new ranges of electronic keyboards from big names in the music industry. Companies like Roland, Korg and Yamaha are applying advances in technology to deliver a whole range of synthesized vintage and retro sounds in high quality instruments with organic playability, stable electronics and USB and audio interfaces.
Roland's Jupiter 80 synthesizer is a perfect example of this latest phenomenon. With a 76-note, semi-weighted keyboard, the Jupiter 80 offers 256 notes of polyphony with Roland's famous SuperNatural technology giving seamless note-to-note expression. The powerful sound engine feeds back on the player's technique to produce realistic sound coupled with an authentic performance. The Jupiter 80 has four on-board effects processors for great versatility plus USB connection for playing backing tracks or recording with ease. The original Jupiter was hugely popular in the Eighties and Roland know that they are onto a good thing by re-using the name for this sophisticated instrument that gives the user a retro feel backed up by Roland's latest advances in technology.
The appropriately named Korg Kronos synthesizer workstation is truly a leader in the field as it offers more than similar keyboards but at an affordable price. Korg have aimed to cover three areas with the launch of Kronos; Live, Production and Sound Design. Those using the Kronos for live performance will find a familiar program and combi layout with nine synth engines and a unique set list for compiling sounds. In production the 16-track sequencer and 16-track audio recorder together with analogue audio inputs for recording or sampling direct to the internal 300GB hard drive make the Kronos a user-friendly piece of studio kit. The aforementioned synth engines plus wave sequencing and vector synthesis put a large tick in the sound design box. Korg employed industry icons to program onboard sounds for the Kronos and it shows.
For a professional but affordable option it is hard to beat Yamaha's MOX6 and MOX8 synthesizer workstations. Internally they both offer the musician the same package. Both have a huge on-board 16-track sequencer, 226,000 note and 64 song capacity. There are over 1000 voices and over 350MB of waveforms, a vocoder and arpeggiator with over 6000 patterns available, which can be edited and enhanced with Yamaha's XA (Expanded Articulation) technology. All of which combine to form a great opportunity to recreate classic synth sounds or totally new ones. Externally the MOX6 has a 61-note semi-weighted keyboard, while the MOX8 has an 88-note fully weighted graded hammer action keyboard for an authentic piano feel. Both of the instruments are flexible and versatile, integrating with other audio sources and forming a complete package for beginners and professionals alike.
The electronic keyboard market is certainly very dynamic at present, producing product to meet demand for both the synth led electronic music revival and the newer computer-based music production market. Aside from the fact that the keyboard and synthesizer have long since played a major role in electronic acts from the Human League to the The Chemical Brothers and beyond, the keyboard now has just as important a role at the forefront of the traditional rock band as well as the electric guitar, which makes keyboard players the new rock and roll stars. Electronic keyboard manufacturers have certainly stepped up to the challenge and musicians now have access to a whole range of new and retro sounds in a range of high quality instruments.

Women can go either swimwear swimsuits camouflage or leg, covering the entire body is covered and a lot of shame attached to it. These are essentially concealing costumes that cover the body from neck to ankles. Above the normal body-water departure, while the bottom has drawers in dark shades continue to make themselves thinner.
