Ways To Spark Inspiration
So now you know how to store those moments of inspiration lets take a look at some ways of sparking inspiration. All you need is that little spark and the songwriting will flow like a rushing river. Here's how:
- Life Experiences - Just getting away from your instrument or pen and paper for a couple of hours can really help clear your mind. So get out of the house, go for a walk, go for a run, go grab a coffee, go grab a pint, go shopping, go visit a friend, just go. You won't notice it at the time but your mind will be taking everything in and your experiences will come out in your songwriting, either consciously or sub-consciously.
- Read - Reading is great for lyricists. Not only does it help to extend your vocabulary but it also employs great imagery for you to use when writing. So get reading whatever is around you, be it books, magazines, newspapers or online articles.
- Exercise - Get your blood pumping and get that fresh air into. Exercising is a great way to clear the cobwebs from your mind and help you focus.
